With the demise of Excite and reduced spidering by AltaVista search engines and the fall off of branding type advertising revenues across The Internet, it is easy to see that the major, free model of search engines is nearing the end of its life span. Google is carrying 8.4 billion web pages in its index.. but the load is growing and the task is clearly excessive as 3 million+ pages get submitted each sun rise. So what is next?

Here, you simply pay for position (ranking) in the search results with bids
as low as $0.001 (Brainfox and Brainysearch) or $0.01
in most of the other engines, except Overture $0.10 and Google
Adwords with a $0.05 minimum. Looksmart requires $0.15c per clickthru.
You first research your keywords
and keyphrases for popularity/frequency, then place your bids (having worked
out how much a unique visitor will bring you in average revenue.) For example:
